Counsellor – Children and Young People (Fixed-Term)
Salary: Circa £30,000 FTE (pro-rata for part-time)
Contract: 12-month fixed term, full-time (35 hrs) or part-time (min. 21 hrs)
Base: Home working with travel across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough
Ormiston Families, part of the YOUnited partnership, is seeking a qualified counsellor to support children and young people aged 5–13 with mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing needs.
This role involves delivering a mix of first appointments using the Single Sessions Thinking (SST) approach (training provided) and short-term therapeutic interventions, both online and face-to-face in schools.
Requirements:
Qualified counsellor and BACP registered
At least 12 months’ post-qualification experience with children aged 5–13
Strong safeguarding knowledge
Ability to travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
The post is home based with sessions mainly delivered in schools. Clinical supervision is provided, and the service also supports trainee counsellor placements.
