Overview
Sue Ryder is recruiting qualified and accredited therapists (BACP, UKCP, or HCPC) to join its expanding national bereavement counselling service. This permanent, home-based role with occasional travel and offers both full-time (37.5 hours) and part-time (28.5 hours) positions, with a salary of £32,130–£39,271 per annum (pro rata) plus a competitive benefits package.
The service provides focused, outcome-informed grief support through single-session and short-term (up to six sessions) therapy delivered online and occasionally by phone. Applicants must have substantial post-qualification experience, knowledge of bereavement issues, and experience providing time-limited counselling via video. Formal training in online counselling (minimum 80 hours CPD) is desirable.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, between 8am and 8pm, with a particular need for evening availability. Counsellors with BSL experience are especially welcome.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing remote bereavement counselling nationally and within hospice communities
Using the Adult Attitude to Grief (AAG) scale
Maintaining accurate, confidential records
Supporting the development of the counselling service
Requirements:
Accredited membership with BACP, UKCP, or HCPC
Reliable internet connection and private workspace
Flexibility and ability to work independently from home
