Overview

The Social Care Support Coordinator role at Young Lives vs Cancer offers a hybrid working arrangement, primarily home-based but with flexibility for occasional office or team requirements. The position is permanent, 28 hours per week, with a salary of £26,629 full-time equivalent (pro-rata for part-time hours). Applicants must be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays within core hours of 09:00–17:00, with the possibility of additional hours up to 35 per week as required.

This role supports children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families, helping them navigate the emotional and practical impact of a cancer diagnosis. The coordinator will provide person-centred, low-level social care support, including regular phone check-ins, guidance on finance, housing, education, and emotional wellbeing, and signposting to relevant services. They will also act as the first point of contact for enquiries via phone, email, web chat, and other digital channels, maintaining accurate case records and collaborating with volunteers, social workers, and colleagues across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a charity, health, or social care setting, strong communication skills across multiple channels, and confidence providing practical advice and support digitally. Familiarity with databases, case management systems, and Office 365 is important, along with the ability to stay organised and calm in a fast-paced, virtual environment.
